Water on the brain

Claudius is rather scandalized by this method of drinking. While he's definitely a fan of fresh running water, he also believes in maintaining his dignity while doing so, and, he says mournfully, this cat has no shame.

(Don't tell Claudie, but I have a major crush on this cat.)

Edited to add: And it's talk like a pirate day at Library Thing! There's no dignity left in this world! Arrr, mates!

  1. I saw this video via facebook midweek and fell in love with the cat too.

  2. Obviously this cat is completely crazy - and absolutely adorable. (My own cat only agrees with the crazy part).

  3. My dogs won't even do that. They're not all that fond of water.

  4. That video is so funny! I just got my cat one of those drinking-fountain type water dishes, and she was trying to drink from the stream, got water up her nose, sneezed a dozen times in a row and refused to go near the thing again. I had to think she'd never be a cat to shower in the sink like this guy!

  5. I knew a cat once who would drink only from the tap. But sedately. None of this total facial immersion stuff. What an amazing kitty!

  6. My boss spotted the video on Facebook middle of the week, too! We all spent a lot of time watching it.

My Claudius drinks almost exclusively from the tap -- lately he's developing a taste for whatever I'm drinking, unfortunately, so I have to watch where I set my glass. Before we went on vacation this summer I told my neighbor she'd have to turn on the water for him and she thought I was nuts, of course, but he hopped right up at the sink as soon as she came in the door!

And Jeane, both Claudius and Ellie got water up their noses when they first tried drinking. They kept at it, though. I wonder if they'd like a drinking fountain. . .

  7. Maybe it is about more than getting a drink. Maybe it is like a kitty spa treatment. Little aqua massage on the scalp.

  8. This video made my night. We have 2/4 cats who are crazy about running water. One gets in the bath tub the other in the sink. Too funny. Thanks
