Hey, thanks for the shout out (and the goose -- poor Mappa Mundi has been neglected as of late). That Gaitskill essay knocked me out on a bunch of levels, not only the writing but how every time I thought she was going to just spool off somewhere I wouldn't be able to follow she'd almost violently reel me back in. Plus it made me cry.

ReplyDeleteI did my best not to cry--I'd read a bit, get up and get distracted by something else for awhile, come back and read a bit more. I like this the best of anything I've read by Gaitskill, admittedly not a lot, but she has a tendency to go darker than I can usually tolerate.
Since cat's have impeccable taste, I will add this title to the top of my reading list. And since the comments mention crying, I will be certain to have tissues handy along with that cup of coffee.
