A new challenge

Michelle at Overdue Books has proposed a reading challenge that will run through the end of January: the From the Stacks Winter Challenge.

If you are anything like me your stack of purchased to-be-read books is teetering over. So for this challenge we would be reading 5 books that we have already purchased, have been meaning to get to, have been sitting on the nightstand and haven't read before. No going out and buying new books. No getting sidetracked by the lure of the holiday bookstore displays.

Three months of reading what's already at hand. That's an awfully long time, isn't it?

I need a challenge like this. I hope I can do it.

  1. Sounds like an interesting challenge - and one I could make use of. Except... Another branch of our library is moving next month. They urge everyone to take out lots of books so that they don't have to move them. We can keep them out until the end of January - so we stocked up on books this afternoon, as many as the four of us could carry.

  3. Sounds like your challenge should be to make it through all the library books, ML! I've heard of libraries checking out as much of their inventory as they can to facilitate a move several times, but have never had the luck to experience it.

And it's the perfect challenge for me, Michelle, to call a moratorum on bringing new books into the house they way I do. I'm glad you thought it up and created such a cool button.

Okay, I just told myself I wasn't going to succumb to these reading challenge anymore, but THIS one sounds like I might have to make an exception.
