Yes, yes. I did say a month ago that there would not be any new book purchases until late May.
Did you really believe me?
I did try, but is very hard not to stockpile when I have both a gift card and time to kill at a mall.
The newbies are:
William Faulkner's Collected Stories
Diane Ackerman's A Natural History of the Senses
and
W. Somerset Maugham's Christmas Holiday and A Painted Veil

Great choices! I really liked the Ackerman book and have wanted to reread it. I want to read more Maugham, too! At least you used gift cards, so hopefully you don't feel too guilty!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to hearing what you think of the Ackerman, it's on my list!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the cover to The Painted Veil.
ReplyDeleteI knew you wouldn't make it, though you were starting to worry me a bit :-) The Ackerman is great. I'm sure you will love it.
ReplyDeleteI read The Moon by Whalelight by Ackerman years ago and adored it, so will be on the look out for this one.
ReplyDeleteI've had my eye on the Ackerman book for a while -- I hope you enjoy it. I'm glad to read that Stefanie liked it a lot.
ReplyDeleteSomerset Maugham, great choice. He is one of my favourite writers. I especially liked his book, 'Of Human Bondage'.
ReplyDeleteThe cover of The Painted Veil looks luscious. When you announced that there would be no more book-buying for a while, I have to admit to a murmured, "Yeah, right."
ReplyDeleteGearing up for the Southern Reading Challenge with Faulkner? Um? :)
