Now I'm encouraged to try them both! I haven't read many Persephones (yet!) but can also highly recommend Someone at a Distance.

TraceyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8861486.post-74556698572888911892011-02-28T00:15:02.226-05:002011-02-28T00:15:02.226-05:00Cheerful Weather was okay but I agree, I didn'...Cheerful Weather was okay but I agree, I didn't get Making Conversation either. I read three Persephones in a row in January that were a little disappointing (the other two were Ruben Sachs and Farewell Leicester Square) so it was a huge relief to read Dorothy Whipple which broke the streak -- I read three more that were great. I've loved both of the Whipples I've read so far and I just finished my second Laski, Little Boy Lost. It was wonderful so you'll have to read Laski as well if you haven't already.

The Far Cry is on my list of Persephones to buy next -- I'll have to put Mrs. Blencarrow on the list as well since I didn't win the drawing. :-(Karen K.https://www.blogger.com/profile/13483190930383406559noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8861486.post-87009468913978923092011-02-27T19:41:34.830-05:002011-02-27T19:41:34.830-05:00I remember when I started reading The Far Cry I wa...I remember when I started reading The Far Cry I wasn't all together loving it because of the main character but in the end I really liked it.

You know Cheerful Weather for a Wedding I think was also my first Persephone and it was ok but I didn't love it but luckily almost every other I've read after I've really enjoyed. And, yes, you'll have to try Whipple soon :)Ilianahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07026669671843769219noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8861486.post-45585763603764839772011-02-27T14:51:29.874-05:002011-02-27T14:51:29.874-05:00This is one that is new to me so I appreciate you ...This is one that is new to me so I appreciate you educating me to this author. I own the book and an apron made from the pretty fabric of the endpapers.

Thank you for joining us for Persephone Reading Week, SFP.Paperback Readerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14579608422235511054noreply@blogger.com
